About me

Sally Mollett

After a 25 year career working as an accountant, I realised there was more to life than counting someone else’s money. I started doing a 1 day a week adult education class in upholstery in Hampshire and very soon discovered I had found my true calling in life,
I completely fell in love with working with my hands, and seeing a chair transformed.

I studied Modern and Traditional Upholstery at the London Metropolitan University and won prizes two years running for my upholstery projects, awarded by The Worshipful Company of Upholders’. Additionally I achieved a Distinction in the AMUSF Stage 3 Diploma.

More recently, in addition to running my own business,  I have been teaching adult students the craft of Upholstery.  I teach a ‘Bring a Chair’ evening course where students bring in their own chairs and I teach them how to re-upholster them. I also teach a 1-year, one full day a week class, where I teach the students a set of exercises in traditional and modern upholstery for the first 2 terms, and in the 3rd term the students bring in their own chairs to be taught how to re-upholster them.

I love buying old chairs and transforming them into beautiful pieces of furniture. I also love to see the look of pleasure on the faces of my clients when they see the finished result of a sofa, chair or stool that I have re-upholstered and brought back to life for them.
